Bugger that; I'm going out drinking. It's been years since I've been on the beer in the land of Scouse. Where should I go? I'm staying centrally and will probably head for The Ship & Mitre first.
Anybody want to design me a pub crawl? Something in the region of six to eight pubs.

The Dispensary and Dr. Duncan's are musts. I would think Cain's Brewery Tap should also be included.
I'd forget about the Brewery Tap. If you're starting at the S&M, you'e on the same street as Thomas Rigbys and just off it is Moorfields, with the great Lion. Also nearby is Dr Duncans on St Johns Lane.
Most of the pubs are located further on, around Hardman Street. On there you have Fly in the Loaf and on Hope St is the Philharmonic. There's also the Cracke on Rice St and the Pilgrim on Pilgrim St.

Try The Poste House on Cumberland Street (http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liverpool-life/restaurants-pubs-bars/2008/01/10/poste-house-cumberland-street-100252-20332561/a pub I used to take some of my Liverpool Poly (as was) customers to back in the 70's and 80's. It is very small inside and their Black Pudding baps were the best in town. The article above is an interesting insight of the history of the establishment. I used to drink Hicksons Bitter which has probably long gone.Enjoy - I will be in Torquay on Monday night, any tips for pubs there?

Thanks for the comments. I've been to most of the pubs mentioned but was in the company of a local so just blindly followed him round with no idea of the geography of the place. Am not a massive fan of Cains beers so will probably just do one of their pubs - I did like Dr Duncans.
