    Mordue To Be No More?

As can be read here, Mordue Brewery of Tyne and Wear has gone into administration.

It would be sad indeed if this micro went under. In 1997, only two years after they formed Workie Ticket their 4.5% bitter won Champion Beer Of Britain, and a very fine beer it is too. I enjoyed a fair few pints of it on my only beer drinking trip to Newcastle. They have still been winning Beer Of The Festival awards in the last few weeks.

Time will tell of course if this is the end, but I do hope not.

Sadly I've never had Workie Ticket in good condition, so don't know whether I like it or not.

It's sad to see a Tyneside brewery go under. However, doubtless the brew kit will find a good home...

Never thought much of their beers. Too sweet and sticky! Still sad to see them go.

Agree with Tandleman. Even when up in their neck of the woods, their beers were far too sweeet. I don't think they ever really grasped mainstream taste, but stayed very localised.

I doubt it will be the end. I imagine the taxman's got a bit fed up with them being late with payments. Someone will step in and clear the debt in return for a chunk of the company.

I don't know where the idea has come from that their beers are "too sweet." I'm a frequent visitor to Newcastle so get to drink them often.
