Although all of these beers are available elsewhere in the UK it is still unheard of to see this many US beers in a pub at any one time, and for that The Criterion has to be commended.
They only have 24 or 48 bottles of each so the amount they've ordered for the festival won't last forever; but hopefully it's been successful enough that I will be seeing more US microbrews in this excellent pub in the future.

If only I'd known! I went to Derby yesterday instead. Actually picked up a bottle of Flying Dog Doggie Style Classic IPA at Red Zebra as well as Great Divide Titan IPA.
I don't know if I should feel chuffed or naffed. When I saw they had a US bottlefest I was excited, but this is stuff I can by in my offies. Perhaps my offies are just as enlightened - or just share the same distributor.
Perhaps I'm just hoping for something like Dark Lord ;-)
And, Mr Johnson - hailing from Nottingham, shopping at Red Zebra, having a surname like Johnson.... if only you were a fat clown, you'd be my doppleganger!
Haddonsman. You are right (as always), that is stuff you can get in your local offie, but as Mr Johnson states, your local offie is pretty decent to say the least. (And I am sure they do use the same distributor as The Criterion)
However when was the last time you saw this number of yankee bottles at any pub you frequent? Never I would suggest, and for that The Criterion is pushing the boat out very positively. You know what a great pub it is, and having events like this is something I would like them, and other pubs doing more regularly.
Fair cop, guv; most cities in the Midlands would kill for a pub with this kind of bottled beer fest. Just seems like less of a fest and more of a promotion of the stuff they'd carry anyway.
Though the Harpoon stuff sounded tasty...
Surprised the Rogue beers are that easy to get hold of in the UK, I'm in Newcastle and have been on the look out for them for a while. Does the Criterion carry the Rogue beers all the time? If possible can you supply the names of a couple of other places (offies, pubs etc) where I might be able grab a bottle or two. Thanks
Gnome. No The Criterion doesn't stock Rogue all the time although they have appeared occassionally in the past. They can be obtained from Utobeer in London and I have seen them in other off licences from time to time. Not sure where in the North East you can get them though, sorry.
