    Archers Beers Are All Unique!

Archers Brewery of Swindon were one of those breweries who brought out new beers almost on a weekly basis. I remember having quite a concerted debate about the legitimacy of each of these beers actually being different from all the others, at a RateBeer meeting some time ago.

I was amused therefore to pick up the pictured beermat in a pub yesterday lunchtime. I'm not sure if this is a new beermat as they have decreased their range fairly considerably over the last year or so, but they have obviously got wind of people doubting their recipes, and feel the need to make the statement.

    Are they protesting too much?

Archers were (and probably still are) a great introductory brewery, certainly for me back when I was a lilly-livered aspiring ale drinker. Despite living nearly 200 miles from the brewery, there's a pub not too far from me that always sells one or two of their extensive range. Even though their golden quaffers are very samey, I still like the recognisable Archers character and am pleased that they seem to have dug themselves out of their administration troubles of last year.

We had their (new?) 5% Strong Dark Mild when in Newark which was delicious - and NOTHING like their other beers!

I see from their website that they still offer around six monthly specials... PER MONTH!

So 72 different beers a year now. Down from about 200 :-).

I don't see them nearly as much as I used to. Perhaps the deals they used to do with landlords to order so many different specials are not as tempting as they used to be?

I see a fair bit of Archers Golden but not the odd 'specials'; that may be a result of the scaled-down distribution or because local punters can't stomach the endless variations.

Snowflakes are unique but still constitute one bland mass.

Archers have a reputation for churning out beers but i have had 5 of their beers recently and all were good.Maybe they have decided to taste there own beer before they inflict them on the gullible public. Before they went into administration they had 190 beers that they regularly brewed.

Gazza, surely you're not suggesting that they would lie in their adverts? All adverts are 100% true. You do know Carlsberg really is probably the best lager in the World don't you??
