    Your Beer Is Too Cold

I was in a Wetherspoons on Monday night. The digital display showing how cold the draught lagers were was at 0.8degrees C. That's really not much warmer than ice. Surely lager shouldn't be served that cold?

Ice cream should be served at that, definitely not beer.

That's got to be a record minimum! The lowest I've ever seen the scornful digital display dip is just below 2 degrees. I imagine the Fosters drinkers love it though - you wouldn't be able to taste a thing!

If it's Euro-fizz the that's probably the kindest thing you can do to it!

Yes, it should if its Carling/Carlsburg etc. Otherwise there's a danger that it might taste of something. Which can't be pleasant.

I remember when an extra-cold pump was installed at my golf club. When a regualr asked what the difference was, one bloke said '20p a pint' and I said 'evn less taste'. And we were both right.

Funny that Paul uses the expression "Euro-fizz" when most of the poorest lager served in this country is brewed here.

Yesterday it was 40.5 C. in my neck of the woods. I was drinking a local blond ale that was served VERY cold. Frozen glass to start with, then the beer was dispensed very cold. I generally do not prefer to drink beer at extremely cold temperatures, but there are exceptions.
