    Mine's A Pint Please.

The EU has made the sensible decision to allow the pint measurement to be kept in the UK.

There have been constant rumours for some years that we would have to sell our beer by metric measurements, so instead of the usual "pint of mild please", we may have found oursleves saying "500ml of mild please". It just doesn't have the same ring to it does it?

I'm not against Europe at all. In fact I would prefer us to change from the pound to the euro, but doing away with the pint just wouldn't have been a good move. I am sure that your beer which currently costs £2.25 for a pint would still cost £2.25 with 68 less ml. That's the way these things go.

My experience of most pubs in Britain is that you ask for a pint and they serve you a half litre.

I agree that is sometimes the case Ron, but I have been told by fellow beer lovers not to worry about getting a full pint. What crap. If I pay for a pint I want a pint.

Yeah, I can't understand why CAMRA gets so much criticism for campaigning for pubs to actually serve a pint of beer.

I can't speak for others, but the reason I get frustrated at CAMRA'a "full pint" campaign is because:

    1. It makes us all sound like stingy pedants. Real ale fans have enough image problems as it is. And no amount of pictures of multi-ethnic young people with pint glasses for heads is going to help that...

    2. It's a side issue when the quality of the beer in most British pubs -- even those that, in theory, serve cask ale -- is so variable.

They're fighting on too many fronts. "Nice tasting beer for all" is a much stronger message than "We demand full pints with no head whatsoever!"
