    RateBeer 3000

On June 13th I had my 3000th rating since joining Ratebeer. It was particularly nice that I shared the beer, a 750ml bottle of Ecaussinnes Archiduc de Nivelles with haddonsman, a fellow Ratebeerian. I had the beer in The Criterion in Leicester on a mini pub crawl around what, I believe, is one of the best three or four beer drinking cities in England. The beer wasn't especially spectacular, but it was unusual enough, being spiced with limes, to honour the milestone.

Thanks are due to all the great people I have met and shared many great beers with over the last four years. Here's to the next thousand which of course started with the next drink; a rather dodgy Greek lager!

Congratulations on drinking all that beer!

I'm beginning to sense that Ratebeer participants often drink beers they know won't be good simply to be able to tick it off on the list. Is that true?

If so, isn't it a tremendous waste of money ... and your livers? ;-)

Just searching for the perfect beer!

It is fair to say that we drink beer we suspect we won't like, and it is sometimes about the numbers as I mentioned in a previous article, but it is fun to compare different crap beers with other crap beers, and you do sometimes have to drink rubbish to appreciate the good stuff.

Where we differ from most tickers/scoopers is that at least we do consider what we are drinking and make informed comments which isn't the same as ticking of a list.

    Cheers.

    Sounds good to me!

Ratebeer's a fantastic site - I've been using it for years to find out about beers and regret not getting involved earlier.

PS. I see you've got Earthmonk in your cellar. Amazing beer, that one. It's a contender for the best one I've ever had.
